For many, the best option for informal, alfresco dining in Surin
Beach is to be found right on the seafront itself. The southern
half of the beach features several restaurants offering fresh seafood
and unpretentious Thai food. Most of these restaurants are largely
indistinguishable one from another but Mr. Crab
is the largest and most established. Be aware, however, that during
low season (April to November) most of these restaurants are closed
and the entire area is deserted.
Set a bit back from the beach, and further to the north on Haad
Surin Soi Eight, there are several international restaurants that
stay open all year round and offer some lovely views as well as
fine dining.
Capri is a pleasant indoor/outdoor
café serving authentic Italian food and delicious pizza from
its wood-fired oven. Paula's Café Retro is a chic little bistro where you can enjoy a delicious sandwich
or get a takeout and picnic on the beach. Nearer the top of the
hill, on the way to the exclusive Amanpuri
Resort, you'll find Noon Japanese at Surin
Beach Resort, where the skilled chefs can do some amazing things
with seafood.
Surin Bay Inn does a good, unpretentious pub grub
deal and Twinpalms Resort
will be a pleasant surprise for those who appreciate excellent food
at reasonable prices. Twinpalms
also has a restaurant towards the beach called Catch
- a chic affair featuring live music and a relaxed ambience and
Twinpalms Resort also delivers the most
popular Sunday brunch in the north of Phuket.
Close by, Carmen - a hip eatery serving Thai-Italian cuisine - is known for its eclectic
music. For top-shelf gourmet Thai dining in Surin there is only
one name you need to know: Silk.
Located in the highly fashionable Plaza, Silk offers sumptuous Thai cuisine in a stylish, tasteful setting that

Finally, if you walk into the grounds of the Chedi
Hotel and follow either the road or the steep steps down to
Pansea Beach (it's quite a long way down so be prepared…)
