Hotels on the beach
The
south end of Kata beach is one of the few places in Phuket where hotels have direct
beach access (no road between the hotel and the beach).
The whole of the
middle part of the beach is taken by Club Med's low key landscaped grounds.
The
north end is quite deserted apart from a couple of resorts located up the hill,
set back from the beach.

families looking for a midrange hotel, Peach Hill Hotel & Resort is located
close to the north end of Kata Beach (not actually on the beach). There's a wealth

Mom Tri's Boathouse is a very highly regarded, intimate hotel with only 36 rooms.

The ever popular 267 room Kata Beach Resort is
a large hotel favoured by those who like to be in the middle of things. Literally
sitting between the beach and Kata's shops and restaurants, many like having everything
you need on your doorstep.
With a prime location towards the southern end of Kata
Beach and direct beach access via the large pool area it's ideally suited to families
but popular with all. This hotel is likely to be popular all year round, most
rooms have sea views.
Kata owes much of it's beauty to Club Med's dominance of the beach
road, if it wasn't there Kata would be very different. Behind it there are some
great hotels that offer good value for money and are only a 5-10 minute walk to
the beach.

Resort is an excellent mid range option that's absolutely perfect for families.
The beach is around a 10 minute walk or you can take the hotel shuttle bus, there's
several restaurants close by. The low rise accommodation is spread over three
floors, many of the ground floor rooms open to one of the three pools. The hotel's
restaurant turns out a recommended breakfast and offers good food at reasonable
process.

Modern 180 room
Kata Palm Resort is good choice for those looking for a quality resort within
walking distance of everything important, namely the beach, shops, bars and restaurants.
The direct pool access rooms offer something interesting that can't be found everywhere,
the kids will love it.

Sugar Palm Resort is one of the most recent and
interesting additions to Kata's hotel inventory, inside the hotel there's a very
modern feel to the decor. The 108 rooms are well decorated and furnished in a
contemporary style and most have wifi access (specify on booking if needed), some
feature direct pool access.
Conveniently located in the centre of town close to
some restaurants and bars, the beach is a short walk away (2 minutes). Sugar Palm
Resort isn't very suitable for young children.
On
the hill at the south end of Kata, towards Kata Noi (meaning small), there's some
great hotels that feature spectacular views. You get peace and tranquility but
are still close to the amenities, it's a short walk down to the beach and town.

Tropical Garden Resort
is located in 4 acres of landscaped tropical gardens up a hill. Many of the 200
rooms have spectacular sea views looking north over Kata bay towards Karon. The
walk is not nearly as bad as it appears and the reward make it more than worthwhile.

Andaman Cannacia Resort & Spa is best described
as a retreat, located up a hill away from the noise below with spectacular views
across Kata Bay. The 115 spacious rooms are pleasing with smart furnishings, most
with scenic sea views.
Very convenient for Kata Noi and Kata beaches, both are
within walking distance. This resort is perfect for those who want to get away
from it all as there's an essence of remoteness and yet it's close Kara's amenities.
Due to the hill location it's not suitable for the elderly.
