Koh Lanta Yai is the main island in a group of 53 islands off the
coast of Krabi. What entices most to Lanta is the chance for peace
and solitude, as this island of golden sands is still nowhere near
as busy as Phi Phi or Phuket.
Yet there's still plenty to do here, with a lush interior easily
explored by motorbike, a charming fishing village and long stretches
of beach to walk along. Snorkelling and diving trips may also be
arranged. A number of restaurants and bars have popped up in recent
years to serve visitors seeking evening activities, but don't expect
to find a throbbing nightlife scene here. (read more about Koh

Getting to Lanta Island
Reached by regular car ferry service from the Krabi mainland and
by passenger ferry from Phi Phi. Trips run year round but service
may occasionally be interrupted due to bad weather conditions during
the May-October low season. (read more about Koh
